Something happened today.
I decided not to force a slow delivery day into being productive.
Wednesdays are often slow. I knew that. Still, there is a strange pressure when you are doing gig work to keep trying because the next order could appear at any moment.
You sit in a parking lot. The app is open. Nothing happens. Five minutes. Ten. Fifteen. You begin negotiating with the universe.
One decent order and I will stay.
The universe does not sign the agreement.
There was also something more important coming: appointments the next day. I needed sleep.
So I decided I was not even going to try to make Wednesday become something it was not.
Get a good night’s sleep.
Be ready for tomorrow.
This sounds like basic planning. It was also a small act of not leaving myself vulnerable to the unpredictable.
If I burned my energy chasing a weak night, I could arrive at the important morning with nothing left.
Achievement is evidence of expenditure.
There it was in work clothes.
Sometimes the profitable decision is to stop trying to earn money.
That is one of those sentences capitalism probably does not want on a motivational poster.
