Story Idea #051 – Winter and Summer Tire Regulations Across Canada: Province-by-Province Rules
Canadian tire rules are not one national rule with ten slightly different footnotes. Provinces and territories can differ on winter-tire requirements, studded-tire dates, chain rules, minimum tread and restrictions on when particular equipment may be used.
We want to build a province-by-province reference using current government sources. The article will distinguish what is legally required from what transportation agencies merely recommend, and it will include effective dates so readers can tell whether a rule is current.
Gig drivers have a reason to care beyond avoiding a ticket. They may cross provincial boundaries, drive more kilometres than average motorists and remain on the road during conditions when tire choices matter most.
Because regulations change, this will be maintained as a reference rather than treated as timeless advice. Every jurisdictional claim should trace back to an official source, with ambiguous wording flagged rather than smoothed over.
