Once recordings could live locally, in the cloud, or in both places, the user should not have to care where the bytes happened to be.
The Video Library was designed as one logical collection. A recording could be marked On device, In cloud, On device + cloud, or Upload pending, but the same video should not appear twice simply because two copies existed.
We added four deliberately simple date filters: Today, This Month, Last Month and All. The original recording time, not the cloud-upload time, would control those filters. That meant a video uploaded days later would still appear in the correct place in the driver’s history.
The design goal was to hide storage plumbing. If a local copy had been safely removed after upload, the library should still show the cloud recording. The user was supposed to think in terms of events and recordings, not file systems.
