Story Idea #070 – We Asked Three AIs the Same Gig-Driver Questions. Here’s What Happened.

This is not going to be another abstract contest over which artificial-intelligence system is “smartest.”

We want to know which one is most useful when a gig driver asks an ordinary question in the middle of ordinary life.

The plan is to give ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude the same set of real driver questions: app troubleshooting, practical delivery situations, explanations of policies, drafting a customer message, researching a rule, or making sense of something confusing that just happened on a shift.

Then we will compare the experience, not merely the answer.

Did the system understand what the driver meant the first time? Did it answer directly? Did it introduce warnings or qualifications that were genuinely useful—or did they derail a simple question? How much rephrasing was needed? Did it remember the context through follow-ups? And, most importantly, did the driver end up with something he could actually use?

We will preserve the first response from each system rather than quietly polishing the prompt until all three look good. Friction is part of the test. If one assistant requires three extra explanations before it becomes useful, that belongs in the result just as much as a factual mistake or an excellent answer.

The comparison will also separate style from accuracy. A wonderfully direct answer is not much help if it is wrong; a technically careful answer can still be a poor user experience if the useful information is buried under unnecessary ceremony.

The goal is not to crown a permanent champion. These products change constantly. It is to show what three widely used AI assistants feel like when judged from the driver’s seat rather than from a benchmark chart.

We will publish the questions, methodology and enough of the response trail that readers can judge our conclusions for themselves.
