Story Idea #103 – Dividing the Work: How SOAPSzone Uses ChatGPT, Gemini and Other AI Resources for Different Roles
Using several AI systems does not make much sense if every one of them is asked to do exactly the same job.
SOAPSzone is experimenting with specialization.
One system may be used as the primary reporting and editorial partner: organizing questions, researching source material, drafting previews and maintaining continuity across a large project. Another can be used for independent analysis or a second interpretation. A third can challenge an answer, look for weak points or provide confirmation from a different model family.
The exact division is allowed to change. The important principle is separation of roles.
That reduces one danger of AI-assisted work: a single confident mistake travelling through the entire process because every later step inherits the same assumption. Independent passes can create friction in a useful way.
This article will document how assignments are divided, where duplication is intentional and where it is wasteful. We will show examples where a second AI catches something the first missed—and examples where all of them repeat the same bad assumption, proving that three answers are not automatically three independent sources.
We also want to be clear about what none of the AI systems gets to be: the editor-in-chief. They can propose, research, question and draft. Human judgment decides what the newsroom is actually trying to learn and what gets published.
The experiment is practical rather than ideological. Different tools have different strengths, interfaces and failure modes. If one works better for a particular task, use it there.
A tiny newsroom cannot afford a room full of specialists.
It can, however, become much more deliberate about which digital specialist gets which assignment.
