Story Idea #020 – What Personal Data Do DoorDash and Uber Hold About Drivers—and How Can Drivers Access It?
A delivery platform can know far more about a driver than the driver sees on the ordinary account screen: identity information, location and trip records, support interactions, device information, payment data, performance metrics and potentially other internal records.
We want to map what DoorDash and Uber say they collect, why they collect it, how long different categories are retained, and what a Canadian driver can actually obtain through an access request. The answer may differ by province and by the type of information involved.
The practical test matters. Privacy policies can describe broad rights, but how easy is it to exercise them? What form must a driver use? How long does a response take? Are internal notes, call recordings, fraud flags or automated-decision data included?
This story will separate what the policies promise from what drivers receive in practice. We would especially like to hear from anyone who has already requested a copy of their DoorDash or Uber data and can describe the process and the result.
