Long recordings create another practical problem: the interesting ten seconds may be buried inside an hour of ordinary driving-app screens.
The Mark button on the floating overlay became a real bookmark system. One tap recorded the current elapsed time, recording ID and session ID without interrupting the recording. Later, the user could see those marks in chronological order, add a short note, delete a mark or jump playback close to the marked moment.
We also added a simple note for the overall session or recording. Importantly, these notes were user-authored. The app was not supposed to infer customer or order details from the video.
Bookmarks also had to survive a move to cloud-only storage. In other words, the useful information belonged to the recording’s identity, not to whichever copy of the video happened to be on the phone that day.
