DoorDash drivers are visibly excited online about the company’s new trophy for drivers who accumulate at least 100 separate incidents of waiting more than 30 minutes for food orders.
The award, officially known as the 30-Minute Trophy, is intended to recognize what DoorDash describes as extraordinary patience and dedication.
“We felt that such dedication needed to finally be recognized,” said a DoorDash representative whom the company has actually authorized to speak on its behalf. “We spent the last six months putting together a task force to design a trophy that would truly represent the workers’ amazing effort.”
The trophy is made from 100% recycled plastic, with a gold-coloured base and the driver’s name engraved on the pedestal.
DoorDash says it has also taken the unusual step of reducing the delivery charge for the trophy.
“We even made the delivery charge lower than normal — just $5.95 COD — to show drivers how much we value them,” the representative said.
The new trophies are expected to begin shipping by Christmas this year, allowing recipients to proudly add them to the decorations over their fireplace mantels.
DoorDash is reportedly also considering an additional trophy for drivers who have experienced more than 200 separate 30-minute waits.
A company press release says that award is still under study.
