About SOAPSzone / Who We Are

What We Are

SOAPSzone is an independent journalism and advocacy project focused primarily on gig workers, online consumers, and the systems they depend on.

What We Cover

We report on everyday problems that can arise when apps, platforms, retailers, support systems, corporate policies, and technology do not work the way people reasonably expect them to. Sometimes a small frustration turns out to be part of a much larger pattern.

Why This Approach Matters

People experiencing a system often see things the people designing or managing it do not. By collecting those experiences, documenting them carefully, comparing them, and making them visible, journalism can expose problems and encourage practical change.

A Participatory Project

Drivers, consumers, workers, businesses, experts, and readers are invited to contribute experiences, comments, tips, documents, photographs, and short video clips. SOAPSzone often brings useful pieces together, investigates the connections, and makes them easier for the world to see.

Show the Evidence

Where practical, SOAPSzone publishes supporting documents, correspondence, screenshots, policies, and other source material so people can judge the evidence for themselves.

About Bill Warren

Bill Warren is the public byline used by SOAPSzone’s founder and editor.

Serious Work, Room for Humour

The subjects can be serious; that does not mean every moment has to be solemn. Take the work seriously, while remaining completely capable of laughing at ourselves.

Where We Go From Here

The initial focus is gig work and online consumer issues, but SOAPSzone is designed to follow worthwhile stories wherever the evidence and the people affected by it lead.
