Our Response Process
Last revised — August 21, 2026
Purpose
When SOAPSzone is preparing to publish significant allegations, criticism, or factual claims about a company, organization, or identifiable person, they should normally have a fair opportunity to respond before publication.
When a Response Is Needed
A response request is especially important when a story alleges wrongdoing, unfair treatment, misleading conduct, policy failures, serious operational problems, or facts that could materially affect reputation.
What We Send
The subject should receive enough information to understand the substance of what we are asking about. We do not need to send a finished article or reveal confidential sources, but we should not hide the real issue behind vague questions.
Reasonable Time
Whenever practical, give the subject a reasonable opportunity to respond based on the urgency and complexity of the story. A deadline should be stated clearly when one matters.
Publish the Substance Fairly
A response should not be reduced to a token sentence if the substance materially affects the story. At the same time, a subject is not automatically entitled to dictate wording or turn the article into their press release.
