As diagnostic logging became more important, we needed a way to tell one installation of the app from another and to make exported logs more trustworthy.
S2-05 introduced a persistent installation ID and cryptographic signing for log material. The goal was not to identify a person by name. It was to give a particular app installation a stable technical identity so diagnostic records could be associated correctly and tampering could be detected.
That fit the larger evidence philosophy of SOAPS Zone. A log is more useful when we can say where it came from and whether its contents appear to have changed after creation. At the same time, that identity needed to remain an app-level mechanism rather than an excuse to collect unnecessary personal information.
This was another quiet infrastructure step: not flashy on screen, but important if the app was going to produce records that might later be used to understand bugs or compare driver experiences.
